Catriona became interested in robotics from a young age. She grew up going to Disney World and loved to watch the way the animatronics moved, and soon became curious about them. As she got older she began to look more into it and discovered Disney’s “imagineering.” Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development, Inc., commonly referred to as imagineering, is responsible for the creation, design, and construction of Disney theme parks and attractions worldwide. Catriona’s dream of becoming a Disney imagineer was born!
She is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and has been on the executive board for two years. She has been vice president of new member education since 2022. She’s also a junior captain of the Lafayette College dance team and assistant choreographer for the Marquis Players musical FootLoose. While her academics are all math- and engineering-related, her hobbies are entirely dance-related.She’s been dancing for 17 years as an escape from reality.
Catriona’s summers have been dedicated to volunteering at YMCA of the Pines. Last summer she served as program director for the Matollionequay, the girls overnight camp, during which she realized how much she enjoys working with kids. This experience inspired her to consider perhaps teaching STEM to the young minds of tomorrow, and made her more passionate about getting more females interested in STEM at a younger age. This coming summer she’ll be looking for a mechanical- or electrical-related engineering internship.
